I usually start out beginner dance parties in a big circle.  No partners needed.  Just get on the floor and we’ll dance.  The first big circle dance is usually a dance I call Jump Start.  It is also called The Cat’s Meow.   The second dance in a big Circle is Fraley’s Frolic.  The steps are written out below.  The easy way to understand the dance is to play the video clip on Youtube.  Click here.

Formation: Big Circle, No Partners

Description:

….1-8   Everybody Circle Left 8 steps.

..9-16   Walk toward the center of the set 4 steps and then back away from the center of the circle 4 steps.

17-24   Circle Right 8 steps

25-32   Walk toward the center of the set 4 steps and then back away from the center of the circle 4 steps.

33-40   Clap your hands quickly 3 times in front, 3 times in back, 5 times in front.

41-48   Each person should walk in a small circle to their right.

49-56   Clap your hands quickly 3 times in front, 3 times in back, 5 times in front

57-64   Each person should walk in a small circle to their left.
